The squares in the center

Central Square (Square Mayor Mich.Sapka)

The historic Central Square (Mayor Sapka) of Larisa is surrounded by the streets Papanastasiou, Cyprus, Great Alexander and the pedestrian street of Kouma, where is located the courthouse of the city. On the Papanastasiou Street is located the Town Hall while across from the square, in the street of Cyprus, is located the imposing building of the Military Officers Club. The square brings together all kinds of functions, commercial, recreational, cultural and social relations. In front of the courthouse will be completed the "sculpted river" fountain, of the artist Nella Golanda, characteristic artistic element of the square. Statues of important Greek, such as former Mayor Michael Sapka, decorate the various corners of the square.

Square Agamemnon Blana (New Market Square)

The new square of Mayor Agamemnon Blana is located opposite the Archaeological Museum of Larissa and the square of Saint Vissarion, between the roads of Cyprus and Venizelou. In the square of St. Blana after excavation work for creating an underground parking lot, came to light some ancient Christian baths of the 5th century BC. which rose to the surface of the city and incorporated into the square. Today, the antiquities are a dominant element, have been surrounded with greenery and can be visited. Also, inside the church of St. Vissarion, the artist Agenor Asteriadis has painted its hagiographies. In this square, except the church of St. Vissarion, are the building of the Municipal Conservatory and a large fountain.

Post Square (King Ferraiou Square, Ethnarchou Makarios)

The Post Square is undoubtedly the most vibrant city square. In it are located dozens of cafes that host Larisa's citizens every day and many people from other Thessalian capitals. The square is decorated by the "Sculptured River," the big fountain of Larisa by the sculptor Nella Golanda where the waterfalls symbolize the mountain springs of the river Pinios. The spirit of sculptural composition continues in the central fountain of the square, with the reappearance of the water, which will continue supposedly an underground route to the central square (Sapka), thus symbolizing the path made by the river Pinios. In the square is also located the building of medical school (formerly clinic Katsigras CI), while right in front of it lies a sunken courtyard, where take place events and concerts.

Square of Mayor Aristides Lamproulis

The square of the mayor Aristidis Lamproulis is located on the hill of the Fortress. After the discovery of a Byzantine church and the early Christian bath, the square was designed to be in full harmony with the historic Bezesteni and the Basilica of St Achilleus. In the northern part, is the bust of Aristides Lamproulis. In the area of today's square was a popular Wednesday market, which operated all day long. For this reason, today in Larissa, the market operates Wednesday and not Thursday, as the rest of Greece. The square is tiled entirely and beautifully illuminated, while around it there are several bars filled with people, especially during the summer months.
